{Interior} Old factory converted to industrial home in Spello by Paola Navone

I came accross them again going through my bookmarks for future post ideas, and since you seemed to enjoy my previous post, I thought you would also like to see these gorgeous images by Max Zambelli. He photographed this stunning industrial space designed by Paola Navone in Spello, Italy. Originally from Turin, Paola Navone is an architect, interior designer and art director. 

This 17th century factory was successfully turned into a 500 sqm open plan apartment. It is full of ideas to keep your creative juices inspired. There are so many details that I love in this home! I love the industrial features, the contrast between the massive rustic beams & the sleek fireplace, the 10 metre high ceilings. The re-use theme that reappears throughout, from reclaimed wood, to up-cycled pieces of furniture. Finally, the cement floor tiles make it just perfect, in particular the clever transition with the hexagonal Moroccan cement floor tiles and the wooden floors.

{Design} Falcon enamelware design classic for the kitchen

It is not really surprising the Falcon's enamelware is back in the spotlight in the über trendy cafes and street food stalls around London. The smooth enamel reminds me of my grand mother's kitchen and provokes mouth watering reflexes.

The plain and simple design | white with the blue rim | has stood the test of time and reminds me of no-nonsense utilitarianism. It appeals to the same part of the brain as the apple crumble. Tradition & home cooked food.

New input from 3 designers has given Falcon a new lease of life: new colour ranges & branding to modernise the 1920s British design classic. I, for one, can't wait to see what the 92 year old will come up with next!

{Design} Puzzle bread board for your baguette

I am not sure what the etiquette is with regards to bending baguettes. I always try and keep a baguette whole for some reason. If I break it by accident, I get slightly anxious about it. Weird I know! I think that is one of the many sign I need to be more relaxed about stuff... Major OCD!

{DIY} How to dip dye cutlery

Today I have some DIY for your weekend. Dipped cutlery pieces are popping up everywhere on the web, and I love them!

It looks so easy to do... I haven't done it yet but it is on my to do list. Either as a reunification project for all the mismatched cutlery we have, and also as set pieces or serving cutlery. I think I'll go Yellow and Grey!

You will need:

• inexpensive cutlery ( I think patterned looks better)
• a tin of Plasti Dip. It is a rubberised coating that comes in lots of different colors.

How to:

• hold onto the end of the utensil dipping the handle into the Plasti Dip as far as you want, avoiding the area used to eat.
• when taken out let the excess drip, then turn over for plastic dip to begin setting.
• dip each piece twice to get desired colour.
• place the dry end underneath a heavy box and let the utensils sit to dry as described on the tin.

Notes:

• When they are first dipped you no longer see any pattern on the utensil. Once they are completely dry, you can see the pattern again.
• Don't put them in the dishwasher as the coating might get ruined. 

Voila! Easy right? Now have fun experimenting...

{Interiors} Hexagonal floor tiles for an Italian apartment

I love these floor tiles! Each room has a different tiled floor of unglazed porcelain hexagonal tiles; the basic theme carries throughout the flat, but with a variation in the pattern for each space when walking over a black threshold. Design is by Architects Grooppo renovated a flat in an 1870s building in Savona, Italy.

{Interiors} Interesting piping solution

I just wanted to share this quirky detail from this Italian kitchen: a long metal hose pipe is used as a radiator on the kitchen wall. Interesting piping solution! In theory you could move the pipe around the room to have your source of heat in a different place. I would be curious to find out how well it works.

{Design} iittala Collective tools serving spoon

We finally have one at home! I have been eyeing this serving spoon in Twentytwentyone for a long time. So my husband got one for his birthday last week!

I know! It is kind of cheeky to get him something I have wanted for a long time... But he will learn to love the spoon... It is made of steel and fits perfectly in the palm of your hand. We already used it for a great sunday lunch. Who knew it was the perfect tool to serve gratin dauphinois.
