Italian artist Marco Sodano reinterprets famous artwork with Legos

Designers and artists keep on coming up with such creative ideas using Legos as raw materials. Check out this work by italian artist Marco Sodano. Can you recognise these masterpieces? The concept behind this work is that "All children are authentic artists with Lego".
I bet you can't wait to have a go yourself. take your favourite image and turn it into a lego piece of art.

{Interiors} Gorgeous Z1 Black cotton lamp by Ay Illuminate

What a fabulous lamp! I first saw it at my friend Anna's house, and I have since seen it popping up here and there on the blogosphere.
I just love the Z1 Black cotton lamp by Ay Illuminate, it is in all natural bamboo and handwoven cotton from Ethiopia.
Although it is huge and not so suited for low ceilings, I think I found the perfect chistmas present for my in-laws new home in the South of France...

{Shop} Folklore in Islington

I have been meaning to go into Folklore for a while now (they opened in June 2012), and I finally got around to having a peek around last week. I loved it!

Folklore is an independent store that teams up with designers to bring us carefully curated designs for home and life that are made to last. Their ethos is simple: "Craftsmenship, quality, simplicity, durability".

Folklore’s product range includes homewares, furniture, lighting, art and lifestyle goods, all made with a concern for the environment.

With its white painted wooden floorboards the shop has a calm scandinavian feel. If you are looking for a gift for someone (or yourself), it is a great place to start. Alternatively, you could visit their online shop.

FOLKLORE
193 Upper Street, Islington, London N1 1RQ (0207 354 9333)
Open: Tuesday – Sunday, 11am – 6pm

{Design} Cross blanket by Pia Wallen

It seems that since I started this blog, everywhere I look... There it is! The Cross blanket by Pia Wallen. Every Scandinavian design lover wants one, including myself.
It is the less expensive version of the famous 1991 Crux blanket. The 1991 version was a 700$ wool blanket made in Sweden, the "remake" version is made in Peru in ecologically sourced cotton and costs "only" 150£. It comes in a variety of colours: red/white, green/white, grey/white... My favourite would have to be the black/white one.

You can get them from Story North in Surrey. They also have the cutest baby size one.

I will keep an eye on the prices, who knows, maybe they will have a 70% sale one of these days... In the meantime, enjoy these gorgeous images.

What is it about the cross that is so appealing? Just perfect!

You can also make your own cross bunting, follow instructions from Bluebird vintage for a quick and easy project.

I liked these last 2 images, although I can't seem to remember where I found them.
